Culture: the behaviours, beliefs, & characteristics of a particular social, ethnic, or age group.

It’s 5am, I am sitting in a hotel room in Ujjain, India, waiting for the university to finished  being built creating lesson plans. EEeek!

one of a 100 road icons and a road iron monger at home.
They say it is all a matter of perspective. Plucked from a big city Long Beach, CA and plopped into small town religious Ujjain. In the middle of India – yup the bullseye of a dart board, the flat muggy grey countryside, straight roads, with broken concrete, constrained by lines of disintegrating box houses, hunched homeless, eggs, cows, roving ravaged dogs, traffic that flows and honks in all directions,  while orange pilgrims walk a long line to the polluted ghats.

Street Chai DAY 1      Chai with family DAY 2

Street food – my obsession.

So forget the India of Ashrams, meditation, maharajas, call centers, lush hillsides and traditional crafts.

Local street views – note the kid in the middle of the road and rock that hold down the tin roofs

Street art india – my guess concrete & paint, my mural Long Beach – paint
being the only fake blond makes for many pictures with locals
